 The Royal Orient is one of the most lavish and luxurious trains of India. The train was developed on the lines of the world famous Palace On wheels as a joint venture of the Tourist Corporation of Gujarat Limited and the Indian railways in 1994. This beautiful blue limousine is well equipped with all the modern amenities on board to provide excellent services and comforts to its passngers.
The itinerary of the Royal Orient includes 7 Nights/8 Days of a momentous journey, which includes some of the most fascinating and colorful cities, historical monuments, National Parks and Sanctuaries and magnificent temples of Rajasthan and Gujarat. It leaves the Delhi Cantonment Railway Station on every Wednesday in the months of September to April. As the train requires some renovations to maintain its charm, it doesn't operate in the months of May- August.
Day 01 - Wednesday: Delhi
The train leaves Delhi Cantonment Railway station at 15.00 Hrs. Dinner is served on board the train. Overnight stay in the luxury comforts of the train.
Day 02 - Thursday: Chittorgarh, Udaipur
Morning arrival at Chittorgarh, the city of bravery and romance. Visit the legendary Chittorgarh Fort during your short stay at Chittorgarh. Return back to the train to enjoy your morning breakfast. Departure for Udaipur, the city of lakes. Lunch at a famous restaurant in Udaipur. Enjoy an afternoon sightseeing tour of Udaipur. During your stay at Udaipur, you will visit the famous City Lake Palace, Shilpgram- a craft village- known for its exotic handicrafts, and Royal Gardens. Enjoy an exotic boat cruising in lake Pichola. Later in the day the Royal Orient leave for Mehsana.
Day 03 - Friday: Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Junagarh, Veraval
Early morning, the royal orient arrives at Mehsana in Gujarat. Visit the famous Sun Temple at Modhera and the Rani ki Vav (stepwell) and the Patola weaving Center at Patan. Have your lunch in a hotel in Ahmedabad. In Ahmedabad you will visit the Adalaj Vav (15km), Sidi Sayyad Mosque, Calico Textile Museum, and the world famous Gandhi Ashram. During your short stay in Junagarh you will visit the Ashokan Rock Edict of the 3rd century B.C., Durbar Hall Museum and the Mausoleum of Nawab Mahabat Khan. Later, in Veraval you will visit the famous Somnath temple.
Day 04 - Saturday: Sasangir, Ahmedpur, Mandvi
After breakfast on board the train you start for an adventurous tour of the Gir Lion Sanctuary, known for the famous Asiatic Lions here. Thereafter visit the famous Ahmedpur-Mandvi beach, the most exotic and picturesque beaches in Gujarat. Later, visit the Diu Fort and St. Paul's Cathedral during your short but memorable stay at Diu.
Day 05 - Sunday: Palitana, Sarkhej
On arrival at Palitana you will visit the famous Jain temples located on the Shatrunjaya Hills. Thereafter you will visit Sarkhej, to experience the feel of a typical rural life at the famous Vishalla village. Return back to the train after having your dinner at a hotel. Overnight journey to Udaipur.
Day 06 - Monday: Udaipur
Early morning arrival at Udaipur. After breakfast on board, you will visit the famous Jain temples at Ranakpur, one of the 5 most sacred pilgrimage centers of the Jain community. Thereafter, the train leaves for Jaipur.
Day 07 - Tuesday: Jaipur
Early morning arrival at Jaipur. Here you will enjoy a daylong sightseeing city tour of Jaipur, the pink city. You will visit the Hawa Mahal, the City Palace and Jantar Mantar (a famous observatory). Later in the day, enjoy an elephant ride up to Amber Fort. Return back to board the train and depart for Delhi.
Day 08 - Wednesday: Delhi
Arrival: 07.40hrs
Arrival at Delhi Cantt. Railway station at 07.40 hrs. Enjoy your breakfast on board the train and you leave the train with many delightful memories of your tour.
